HISTORY

Grass roots efforts can be significant. We know that because 120 years ago a few Easton businessmen got together at A.B Sladen’s on Center Street for a chat and some fellowship when a grand idea was formed. They talked about a lot, but one idea was to pool their assets to form a bank, where family, friends, and neighbors could deposit their money or take out a loan. Shortly after the idea was formed, Easton had a new bank: North Easton Cooperative Bank, which opened its doors for the first time on April 23, 1889.

Our name has changed to Bank of Easton, locations added, and size increased, but we have stayed true to that first significant idea over the last 120 years. We remain true to taking in deposits and loaning out that same money to those in search of their dream home or new business. In fact, our primary mission continues to be to serve our family, friends, and neighbors with exceptional service and products they’ll be proud to tell their family, friends, and neighbors about.

We have you to thank for our success these past 120 years. On our first day in business in 1889, we opened the doors with 4 employees, 15 Bank directors, and just over $8,000 in assets. When we celebrated 100 years in business in 1989, the Bank of Easton had grown to $32 million in assets.

Today our (20) employees thank you for helping us to reach a milestone of $100 million in assets. We couldn’t have done it without our customers. Thank you for sharing our story and helping to take a simple idea and turning it into an exceptional achievement.
